Consultant Receives National Website Award

Brunswick, ME – Good Group Decisions may be a little-known, one-man operation tucked away on the second floor of a downtown Brunswick, Maine office building, but its website is getting national attention. The Independent Consultants Association (ICA) recently announced The Best Consultant Web Site Annual Award Winners at The ICA Annual Conference in Orlando and chose http://www.goodgroupdecisions.com/ as the Grand Prize winner.

 

The website promotes the services of Brunswick consultant Craig Freshley. ICA hopes that independent consultants across the country will look to the website as a good example.

 

Susan Easter, CAE, Awards Chairperson, noted “We had exceptional entries in every category. Many web sites offered extensive resource centers, useful links and detailed information on every web page.” Freshley’s website was chosen as the best overall because of the quality of its content, the “look” and design of the site, and because it’s very well organized and easy to use.

 

“I’ve put a lot of effort into the website,” said Freshley, “so it’s great to be recognized. As an independent consultant, my website is my primary marketing tool.”

 

Freshley’s particular expertise is group decision making, and he’s not bashful about sharing what he knows at his website. At the site one can view handouts that he uses in his workshops and links to other sites of interest.

 

A unique feature of the site is an archive of “Good Group Decision Tips” that he sends to e-mail subscribers every two weeks. “The tips are short and practical,” Freshley notes, “and people seem to like them.” Tips posted at the website have a variety of titles such as Understand First, Good in Everyone, Separate Inputs from Outcomes, and Do What Say. There’s no charge to subscribe and it’s simple to sign up at the website.

 

Freshley’s website also contains a write-up of all current and past projects, a list of publications he’s authored, and an extensive list of quotes from past clients.

 

My website is not just there to generate business for myself,” Freshley explains. “It’s there to actually help achieve the company mission of helping groups make good decisions.” Also part of the company mission stated at the website: “We make the world more joyful and peaceful for present and future generations.”

 

To develop the website, Freshley teamed up with another downtown Brunswick business, Allure Creative. Rick Dieffenbach, Allure’s director of website development, listened carefully to Freshley’s well-formed vision for the site and then engaged his team of designers and programmers to make it happen. “With all sites we develop,” Dieffenbach explained, “we set them up so the customer can easily change the content whenever and however they want without our ongoing assistance. In Craig’s case this was particularly important. He cares a lot about the site’s content and changes it regularly.”
